​The South African Police (SAP) was officially formed on the 1st April, 1913, from the Police corps of the various Provinces. It remained the national police force in South Africa from 1913 to 1994. It was also the de facto police force in the territory of South-West Africa (Namibia) from 1939 to 1981.

Die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisie (SAP) is amptelik op 1 April 1913 gestig van die Polisiekorps van die onderskeie provinsies. Dit het van 1913 tot 1994 die nasionale polisiemag in Suid-Afrika gebly. Dit was ook die de facto-polisiemag in die gebied van Suidwes-Afrika (Namibië) vanaf 1939 tot 1981.
